The fine print that decides when you actually get paid: profit splits, winning days, buffers, payout caps and minimum requests.

The split is only half the story

Most futures prop firms now advertise a 90/10 profit split. But how soon and how often you can withdraw matters just as much. Five rules decide that.

1. Profit split

The share of profit you keep. 90% is now standard. A few firms go further: Bulenox pays 100% of your first $10,000 and then 90%, and Apex pays 100% on simulated Performance Account payouts.

2. Minimum winning days

Many firms require a number of profitable days, often with a minimum profit each, before each payout. Examples:

  • Topstep Standard path: five winning days of $150 or more.
  • LucidFlex: five qualifying profit days of $150 or more.
  • Tradeify Growth and Select Flex: five winning days per cycle.
  • Apex: five qualifying profit days.

3. Buffers

A buffer is profit you must keep in the account before you can withdraw anything above it. At Take Profit Trader, PRO accounts can withdraw on demand once profit exceeds a buffer equal to the max-loss amount. Buffers protect the firm from paying out and then watching the account fail.

4. Caps

Caps limit how much you can take per request or in total. LucidFlex caps each request at 50% of eligible profit and $2,000 on a 50K account. Apex Performance Accounts can receive up to six approved payouts before the account closes.

5. Minimum request and frequency

Minimum withdrawals range from $125 at Topstep to $500 at Apex and Lucid. Frequency ranges from daily (MyFundedFutures Rapid and Tradeify Select Daily) to every 14 days (MyFundedFutures Pro).

How to compare payout terms

  1. Work out how many trading days your first payout really takes.
  2. Check whether the funded drawdown changes; many plans switch to intraday trailing.
  3. Look for a consistency rule that applies only at payout time.
  4. Confirm the payout method and any fees.

Payout rules change often. Always read your firm's current payout policy before trading a funded account.
