One-Time vs Monthly Prop Firm Pricing: Which Costs Less?

Monthly plans look cheaper up front, but extra months and activation fees add up. Here's how to work out the real cost.

Two ways to pay

Futures prop firms sell evaluations in two ways. Monthly subscriptions bill you every month until you pass or cancel. One-time purchases charge once for a fixed window, often 30 days. Many firms also charge an activation fee after you pass, which can cost more than the evaluation itself.

The formula

Total cost to funded = evaluation fee × months (or attempts) + resets + activation fee.

Worked example: 50K accounts at list price

  • Topstep Standard: $49 a month plus a $149 activation fee. Pass in month one: $198. Month two: $247. Month three: $296.
  • Take Profit Trader: $170 a month plus a $130 PRO activation fee. Month one: $300. Month two: $470.
  • Tradeify Growth: from $99 one-time, with no activation fee.
  • Bulenox Momentum 50K: $143 one-time, with free activation.

Discount codes can change these numbers a lot, so check our verified deals first. Most codes don't apply to activation fees.

When monthly makes sense

  • You expect to pass quickly, within one or two months.
  • You want the lowest possible first payment.
  • The firm offers a no-activation-fee path (Topstep's is $85 a month for 50K).

When one-time makes sense

  • You want a fixed, known cost.
  • You trade slowly or part-time.
  • You want to avoid activation fees entirely.

Watch the time limit

One-time evaluations usually expire after a set window, and resets may not extend it. Bulenox and Apex both use 30-day windows.

Prices are list prices as last checked and change often. Confirm at checkout.
